Brookhaven Homes For Sale In Atlanta

Brookhaven homes for sale in Atlanta are located in an unincorporated community northeast of Atlanta, Georgia, on the western side of DeKalb County. The area is composed of several different neighborhoods, popular for their low taxes and proximity to downtown and midtown Atlanta. The community has its own Facebook Group, where residents post everything from advertisements about local businesses to notices about lost pets. It accessible from the north by Interstate 285 and Interstate 81 from the east.

The first permanent settler in the town was a man from Europe named John Evans. He started a plantation in 1910. Samuel and Harris Goodwin followed and established residence in the 1830s. The town's university was founded in 1835 and moved to Peachtree Road in 1915. The campus is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The residents of Atlanta began building summer homes in the area in the early 1900s. The towns nine-hole golf course was designed by Herbert Barker and opened in 1912. This was one of the country's first golf course communities. Much of the area was incorporated with North Atlanta and was disincorporated in the 1960s. The name 'Brookhaven' has evolved. While the tax advantages of the area's unincorporated status are part of its attraction, a movement of around 52,000 residents began a movement to become incorporated.

Brookhaven Fields is a neighborhood of 700 homes next to the Brookhaven Metropolitan Area Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) stop, 15 minutes' drive from downtown Atlanta and a short drive down Peachtree Road from major shopping areas. A mixture of people from all political parties, the residents pride themselves on their ability to get along with each other, and enjoy monthly ice cream socials.

The Fields area supports six schools, two each elementary, middle and high schools. Homes here began as small bungalows in the 1950s, but now are mostly 3000 square feet in size or more. The newer homes have 10-foot ceilings, basements with functioning media rooms and full basements

Brookhaven Renaissance is a small, gated neighborhood of 54 homes, combining the best of suburban life within the city limits of Atlanta. The community was established in 1999 and is situated off Dresden Drive. With some homes backing onto woodland, the area is near shopping yet close to Ashford Park. The nearest MARTA station is about one mile away.

The Village offer loft-style homes as well as gourmet kitchens, European master bathrooms and low Dekalb county taxes. The Brookhaven Village Association (BVA) meet monthly with the objective of preserving the natural beauty of the hamlet and generally protect the interests of its residents. They organize and administer a scholarship fund, and environmental fund and a tree fund. There are no fewer than 16 historic cemeteries housing the resting places of the founding citizens of The Fire Place, as the area used to be called.

Despite the restrictive 50-foot widths of most of the lots in the Heights, the majority of the homes are between USD 600,000 and USD 1,000,000. Many of them have full basements, media rooms, amazing kitchens and wine cellars. The 400 homes in the Heights are bordered by Peachtree Road and North Druid Hills Road.
