Some Costs of Living In Ecuador

If you were to compare right now what it costs to sustain a lifestyle that you are comfortable with and maintaining at this very moment in your country, what would you say it costs you a month? Would it be two thousand dollars? How about more than three thousand? If you were to continue reading on would you believe me if I said, "you could live in Ecuador for under $1000?"

My answer is absolutely you can! You can live a modest and comfortable life in Ecuador for around a thousand dollars. Some costs of living in Ecuador are listed below. This will give you a good idea for something to compare to your own situation. If you live in the bigger cities of Ecuador such as Quito or Guayaquil then some of your costs of living in Ecuador are going to be higher. It is by far cheaper to live in the smaller cities and rural towns.

You can see below approximately what it is going to cost for certain things you need to pay.

1. Your cable bill is around $30 a month depending on selection you choose.

2. Electricity is around $15 per month, while propane is around $10 a month.

3. Your weekly grocery bill for two is about $70-100. Stay away from the modern U.S. style supermarkets because they are U.S. price. Shop locally at the small vendors and negotiate.

4. Bus service is 25 cents and taxis will be around $3.00

5. A two bedroom apartment with the Andes as a view is less than $250 per month. Rent in Quito is higher at $400 a month. The coast can be a little more expensive, especially if you have beachfront.

6. A gourmet meal for two people including desert and a drink will set you back around $20.

7. Excellent medical care at a private hospital visiting a specialist costs about $30 for every consultation.

8. Seniors also get huge discounts on airfare, and public admissions. Another good reason to retire in Ecuador!
